New Red Squirrel Nursery at Glendoick - Now Open
All of our meals are cooked from scratch, on site by our very talented cook; Joyce.
Between 7:30am and 8:30am we provide toast and a glass of milk.
At 9:30am the children have their morning snack. In our Henrietta Hedgehog and Rusty Squirrel rooms, this is provided as a 'rolling snack' where the children can choose when to come and do not need to interrupt the flow of their play.
We encourage the children to be as independent as possible at nursery and in our Henrietta Hedgehog and Rusty Squirrel rooms, the children are supervised and supported to serve their own food as well as clearing and cleaning their own dishes.
At 11:30am the children sit down together for a delicious hot lunch. Our menu is rotated on a 4 weekly basis and we also use a summer and winter menu. Our weekly menu is displayed for parents to access and you can view / download an example pdf of this by clicking here.
We use local and fresh produce including meat from the butcher and fresh fish from the fish van. This also allows the children to be involved in selecting and buying ingredients.
At 3:30pm the children are given their high tea, providing the children with a healthy and substantial hot meal.
Fresh fruit and water is also available for the children throughout the day.
Joyce is able to cater for every child's individual needs and dietary requirements, ensuring that their meals are prepared in a way that no child is made to feel different.
All children in the nursery are involved in choosing and preparing healthy meals and snacks and are provided with a wide range of foods to experience and enjoy. They are involved in every step of planting, growing, caring for and preparing fruits and vegetables as they play and learn in our Growing Garden.
